AppGate is placed between the user and the information as an gateway for the user to access information. The user can only access the information according to who the user is and according to the rules specific rules set in the security policy.

The AppGate solution encompasses the most important part of an secure access system:

Protection of servers (virtual, physical or virtualised) with an inbuilt application layer firewall. This replaces the need for ordinary firewalls for internal use.
Encryption of all communication between the users workstation or mobile phone and the AppGate Server through VPN. This makes all communication secure both for internal users as well as when users work out of the office. The AppGate VPN functionality is specially tailored to meet the demand of the mobile users with special functionality to support them.
Granular and Role based access makes it possible for the system administrator to give either very specific access for an single user or more generic access for a range of users (or both ways the same time)
End point security access is an important part of chain of security, which type of device is used by the user? How secure is the workstation etc? Is the user inside the company network or is the user working from home. It is possible to do all types of checks of the workstation and base the access according to that. Added to the device check, AppGate provides an device firewall with a centrally downloaded ruleset which adds to workstation security.

AppGate solution is delivered as an appliance which are tailored for every customers need. The smallest servers can support up to 250 users and the largest one support up to 15 000 users each. The servers can be clustered for added performance and reliability.
